I’m going to be 100% honest with you and say that the first few posts in this series will be re-uploads of previous posts. I’ve wanted to revive this series for the longest time but for some reason I 1: did films and shows separately and 2: haven’t uploaded one in over a year. So, I decided it would be best to mix up the old posts (with some added content) and bring the series back.
Sheโs The Man (2006)
I actually canโt tell you how many times Iโve seen this film. Iโve probably watched it at least once a year since it came out and Iโm really in the mood to watch it again soon. I honestly donโt think I will ever get bored of Sheโs The Man and the fact that I quote it on a daily basis is a true testament to that statement.ย I can also basically perform the entire film word-for-word, that’s how many times I’ve seen it.
I didn’t know this was based on a Shakespeare play until a few years ago and that makes me love it even more. We all know how much I love a retelling.
Weirdly this is the only film I genuinely find Channing Tatum attractive in. I think it’s because he wasn’t as bulky back then and I’m not a fan of huge, muscly men. I also think it’s because he’s a bit of a goofball but also a romantic? The first time he meets Viola is so lovely.
Speaking of that scene, the ones that follow with the debutantes are way too funny. I see a lot of myself in Viola’s personality, I don’t think I’d partake in a bathroom fight though. That is one of the best scenes of the entire film though. “You picked a fight with the wrong man” is top comedy. Almost as good as “I’m a badass hunky dude”. Amanda Bynes you were too good for us.
I donโt know if this film would be released now, is having Viola pose as a boy a bit politically incorrect? I don’t know, but it’s just a bit of fun. Anyway, this film was a huge part of my childhood and honestly, it is absolutely hilarious. If youโve never seen this film you absolutely need to.
I did a re-watch review of it earlier this year, check it out here if you want:ย Re-Watch Review: Sheโs The Man
Synopsis: Viola Johnson (Amanda Bynes) is in a real jam. Complications threaten her scheme to pose as her twin brother, Sebastian, and take his place at a new boarding school. She falls in love with her handsome roommate, Duke, who loves beautiful Olivia, who has fallen for Sebastian! As if that were not enough, Viola’s twin returns from London ahead of schedule but has no idea that his sister has already replaced him on campus.
