Mamma Mia (2008)

Oh, movie musicals how much I love you. Especially ones with ABBA music. 

I remember going to see this in the cinema with my mom and sister so this has so many great memories and nostalgia for me.

Mamma Mia is pure cheese, but I’m a fan of cheddar. As a singer myself I love films with singing and dancing and this one is so feel-good it’s impossible not to feel great when watching. 

Synopsis: As Sophie and her family are busy preparing for her wedding, she secretly invites three men, who were her mother’s lovers in the past, with the hope that one of them is her father.

Starring: Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth & Stellan Skarsgård

Scooby-Doo: The Movie (2002) 

It’s probably quite embarrassing to admit this, but I freaking love this film. I spent a lot of my childhood watching Scooby Doo as it was my favourite show. I’ve watched this film at least 10 times (that I can remember) and I’m still not bored of it. 

I actually watched this a few days ago with my boyfriend and I think he got secondhand embarrassment from me quoting every other line and knowing all of the songs. He literally turned round to me and said “how do you know the words to all of the songs?”. I’m obviously just really cool and have apparently seen this film too many times. 

I’m a real nostalgia watcher and this film is packed full of it for me. 

Synopsis: After a bitter breakup and staying apart for two years, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and their dog, Scooby-Doo, reunite to investigate strange occurrences at a resort on Spooky Island.

The Greatest Showman (2017)

When I tell you I was shocked this came out in 2017 it is not a lie. I can’t believe it’s been five years since The Greatest Showman came out. 

This film is unlike most of my other comfort films in that it is fairly new. Usually, my checklist for a comfort film involves nostalgia, but not here. I’m a HUGE fan of movie musicals and The Greatest Showman might just be my favourite ever. I love it so much, I’m going to watch it this weekend. 

Synopsis: P T Barnum becomes a worldwide sensation in the show business. His imagination and innovative ideas take him to the top of his game.

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, Keala Settle & Michelle Williams
