Welcome to a brand new series that has been in the works for quite some time. I’ve wanted to do both this theme and also fake dating books for the longest time, but I needed to make sure I actually had enough books to talk about.
These posts are completely subjective, you may not agree with every book I include and yu may not think they’re friends to lovers. However, that’s the beauty of literature, it can be interpreted in different ways.
If you have some great friends to lovers book recommendations do let me know, you may even remind me of ones I’ve already read but have forgotten fall into this category. I’m also going to go through my entire read shelf on Goodreads to see if I’ve missed any on my current list, so sorry this post is a little short!
Lose You to Find Me by Erik J. Brown

I absolutely adored this book and it was a very speedy read. The friends-to-lovers relationship isn’t the one you’d expect, but it was the one I was hoping for. They’re always the best types I think.
There are so many great characters in this book and I will say they outshine the romance. However, this post is about romance, so let’s just say it’s very cute and there’s a lot of angst.
Synopsis: Tommy Dees is in the weeds—restaurant speak for beyond overwhelmed. He’s been working as a server at Sunset Estates retirement community to get the experience he needs to attend one of the best culinary schools in the world. And to make his application shine, he also needs a letter of recommendation from his sadistic manager. But in exchange for the letter, Tommy has to meet three conditions—including training the new hire.
What he doesn’t expect is for the newbie to be an old crush: Gabe, with the dimples and kind heart, who Tommy fell for during summer camp at age ten and then never saw again. Unfortunately, Gabe doesn’t remember Tommy at all. The training proves distracting as old feelings resurface, and the universe seems to be conspiring against them.
With the application deadline looming and Gabe on his mind, Tommy is determined to keep it all together—but what if life isn’t meant to follow a recipe?
The Alice Equation by Davina Stone

The Alice Equation didn’t really deliver on the fake dating trope, but it definitely did on the friends to lovers (obviously, or it wouldn’t be included in this post). Alice has been in love with Aaron for over five years and while she does take advantage of the situation, it does work out well in the end.
It’s not my favourite book ever, the ‘steamy’ section made me cringe a little, but I know a lot of people are into those types of books, so I’m sure they will enjoy it. My review is probably a little too harsh in hindsight.
Synopsis: Three months of fake dating your best friend?
No problem…
Unless you are an anxiety-prone bookworm called Alice Montgomery, and you’ve had a secret crush on said best friend since uni.
Aaron Blake has no intention of falling for anyone, he’s pretty sure he missed out on the love gene. And certainly never, ever Alice. She’s his only friend-who-is-a-girl and he has no intention of messing that up.
But when Alice agrees to fake date Aaron to help him land a top attorney job, (on the condition he teaches her how to flirt) Aaron soon finds out that friendship first and attraction second is an equation he’d never done the math on.
And when secrets from the past surface with dramatic consequences, both Alice and Aaron will have to re-do the sums on this crazy little thing called love…
