When it comes to graphic novels the cover is what makes me want to read them. As a visual media it makes sense, doesn’t it? The art style of a graphic novel can really make or break it and finding one with a great cover is a pretty good place to start.
Talli, Daughter of the Moon Vol.1 by Sourya Sihachakr

You can tell just how intense this graphic novel is from its cover and that’s pretty impressive if you ask me. It shows you exactly what the story will be like and I really enjoy the character designs. It’s very much a traditional anime/manga style and that’s actually what drew me into it.
Synopsis: Hidden within the walls of a secluded castle, Lord Borin raises his adopted daughter Talli in secret, and for good reason: Talli is a descendant of the Summoners, magical women hunted by those who fear their mysterious powers. Violently torn from her home, Talli sets out on a great journey in search of her origins and to learn the secrets of her great and dangerous power.
With the cruel Lord Ulric’s forces hot on her heels, Talli must keep one step ahead, gathering a motley crew of companions and protectors that includes the noble (some might say too noble) knight Sir Alan and the lethargic-but-ferocious swordsman Lélo. The ruthless Captain Nina pursues them doggedly, aware of the secret of Talli’s blood: the secret of the Summoners!

Heartstopper Volume One by Alice Oseman

I couldn’t do a post about graphic novels and not include Heartstopper. Volume One isn’t my favourite cover, but I’ll probably mention them all at some point so why not start at the beginning?
I think we can all agree that the Heartstopper covers are pretty iconic. I love the colour scheme of volume one and I will always be a fan of graphic novel covers that have the same art style as what is inside. I’ve been burned by beautiful covers so many times but that’s not the case here. You get exactly what you see on the cover and I love the style of Heartstopper. What makes the volume one cover even better is the fact that they released a TV tie in edition and they recreated this cover perfectly.

Synopsis: Charlie, a highly-strung, openly gay over-thinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, meet at a British all-boys grammar school. Friendship blooms quickly, but could there be something more…?
Charlie Spring is in Year 10 at Truham Grammar School for Boys. The past year hasn’t been too great, but at least he’s not being bullied anymore. Nick Nelson is in Year 11 and on the school rugby team. He’s heard a little about Charlie – the kid who was outed last year and bullied for a few months – but he’s never had the opportunity to talk to him.
They quickly become friends, and soon Charlie is falling hard for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance. But love works in surprising ways, and sometimes good things are waiting just around the corner…
