I keep changing the format for these posts, sorry. Sometimes using headings doesn’t make sense for what I want to talk about. This month’s post is more of the ramble variety, which is where I feel I really shine. I’m very good at rambling on about things I enjoy.
This month’s post is also a Critical Role special as that’s basically all my life is at the moment. I spend all of my free time with something Critical Role related playing in the background.
I very recently caved and bought an annual subscription to Beacon, Critical Role’s streaming service. I was spending most of my time watching their content anyway so I might as well pay a small fee each month to do so without ads. Also, there’s exclusive content that I really wanted to watch, which brings me to what I wanted to talk about in this post: Weird Kids and Campaign Two – The Mighty Nein.
I’m currently, at the time of writing this post, on episode 29 of campaign two and I really love The Mighty Nein but the absence of Jester and Fjord is so noticeable. I was tempted to skip these episodes, as I know they aren’t as entertaining without them, but if I did, I’d miss a really big event. Yeah you know, THAT one. I am 100% likely to continue watching Campaign Two during June as I’m well and truly stuck into it again.
I know I’m only one episode away from having (almost) all of the main cast back and that’s pretty exciting. By the time this post goes up, I’ll be well past that episode.
I won’t talk about Weird Kids too much here as my actual thoughts on the show will be coming in my monthly what I watched wrap up in about a week. However, I am loving the show so far. The episode with the cast of Midst was incredible. I’ve never watched any of the Midst content but I definitely will now. Maybe even during June. Who knows? I don’t, I procrastinate absolutely everything in my life. Especially watching shows.
Anyway, I will be tuning in weekly for Weird Kids as I can never have too much Ashley Johnson in my life.
I can’t say exactly what else I’ll be watching on Beacon but having the subscription has made me more likely to check out some of their other shows. I’m VERY interested in Thresher as horror is one of my favourite genres of most media. I’m not familiar with the Candela Obscura system though, so maybe I should check that out first. Also it has Abubakar Salim as a main player and I adore that man. Please get him in more Critical Role shows.
This isn’t Critical Role related, but I am 100% watching the new We Were Liars show that comes out in a few weeks. I didn’t think I was too excited for it because I did really enjoy the book but wasn’t interested in an adaptation. Then I saw the cast, Emily Lind, who I have a huge crush on thanks to the Gossip Girl reboot and Rahul Kohli who I absolutely love. Fingers crossed it’s good.
