Surprisingly in October I didn’t watch a single Halloween film. I really wasn’t feeling the holiday this year, which is very unusual for me. I had planned to watch the entire Halloweenteen franchise, like I do every year, but that didn’t happen. I didn’t do this consciously, the month really got away from me.
Agatha All Along – season 1
This show is incredible. I have loved every second of it. Kathryn Han was made to play Agatha and you can’t convince me otherwise. I’m yet to watch the season finale but I’ve heard great things.
Synopsis: A spell-bound Agatha Harkness regains freedom thanks to a teen’s help. Intrigued by his plea, she embarks on the Witches’ Road trials to reclaim her powers and discover the teen’s motivations.
The Big Bang Theory – season 5-6
It’s so easy to get through this show quickly. I like to have it on in the background while I work on posts so the episodes really fly by. There are definitely some issues with some of the ‘jokes’ but I do still love this show.
At the time of writing this post I’m now on season 8 and I don’t know who in the costume department hated Kaley Cuoco but her clothes got so boring. I get that she’s engaged now and has a career in sales, but in the early seasons Penny wouldn’t be caught dead in a flannel shirt.
Synopsis: Aspiring film actress Penny moves into a Pasadena apartment across the hall from brilliant, but socially awkward, physicists Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter and shows them how little they know about life outside of the lab.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – season 2
I didn’t enjoy this show anywhere near as much as I thought I would. A couple of the story lines were interesting but Galadriel was almost completely unlikeable. I also really didn’t care about Sauron.
Synopsis: Epic drama set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings’ follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.
Heartstopper – season three
I almost forgot to include Heartstopper in this post because I watched the entire season in one night and it was early October. However, I adored this season. It had me laughing constantly but also crying constantly. The inclusion of volume five content has made me worried for future seasons though. I was hoping this season would be volume four, Solitaire and This Winter. I want more Tori character development.
Synopsis: The story of two British teens, Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring, at an all-boys grammar school. Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player, one day are made to sit together in class. Their friendship quickly becomes something more for openly gay Charlie, but he initially does not believe he has a chance with Nick, but love works in surprising ways, with Nick more interested in Charlie than either of them realised. Heartstopper is about love, friendship, and loyalty. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie’s lives that together make something larger.
The Legend of Vox Machina – season three
What a show. I love everything about it: animation style, the acting, the characters. It’s just so good. It’s not often I literally laugh out loud at a show but Grog cracked me up every single episode.
Synopsis: After saving the realm from evil and destruction at the hands of the most terrifying power couple in Exandria, Vox Machina is faced with saving the world once again-this time, from a sinister group of dragons known as the Chroma Conclave.
