Re-Watch Review: New Girl S1-EP13

Episode synopsis

S1 EP13 – Valentine’s Day: Single for the first time on Valentine’s Day, Jess convinces Schmidt to be her wingman as she attempts to have an attachment-free fling with a handsome stranger. Nick’s romantic plans are foiled when he finds himself spending more time with Julia’s law firm assistant than with her. Winston becomes one of the girls when Shelby invites him over on the holiday.

Best character

Cece was actually a pretty good friend to both Jess and Schmidt. Not that she isn’t usually but she literally fought someone for Jess and she tried to help Schmidt find someone at the bar, despite her obviously being in love with him. Well, probably not at this point, but still.

Favourite scenes

*I do not own the rights to any videos in this post, no copyright infringement was intended. All rights go to the production studio*

If Nick didn’t stop Jess during this scene, the show could have really gone in a different direction.

Best quotes and one liners

SCHMIDT: A normal man can go maybe three times in a night, depending on how much salmon he’s had.

JESS: He’s literally the most boring person I’ve ever met. He’s described every lunch he’s had this week, and three of them were tacos.

WINSTON: Listen here, man, I’m at Shelby’s house. And there’s two other girls here. They’re drinking cranberry juice, talking about Michelle Obama’s upper-body workout. I got a nose strip on my face, man.

CECE: Why are you crashing Jess’s one-night stand?

SCHMIDT: Well, he asked me if I wanted to watch Planet of the Apes. I didn’t know he meant right now.

SCHMIDT: [Schmidt goes outside and finds his car without tires, resting on concrete blocks] Youths!

CLIFF: I’m just gonna get in my car, and I’m just gonna drive until I see the sun. ‘Cause it’s got to be shining somewhere. And for once in my life, I’m gonna spend some time with my birds.

Final thoughts and fun facts

I don’t know if it was intentional but it seems to me like Julia tries to act like Jess in this episode. She’s being a bit goofy and even uses a silly voice when putting on the heart headband, which is something Jess would definitely do. I still hate her.
