I’ve very much had a “treat yo self” month and I’m not just talking about books. For those interested, I got a new set of D&D dice, completed my Neck Deep vinyl collection and bought the books in this post. Which might seem like a lot but I never buy myself anything, other than cheap Kindle books, so it’s not too bad.
Suddenly a Murder by Lauren Muñoz

I first saw this book in The Works a couple of months ago and I very nearly bought it for £3, however, I’ve really cut down on physical books lately. Thankfully I did wait because I got it for 99p on my Kindle, which makes way more sense as I’m fairly likely to get rid of the physical book as soon as I finish it.
Synopsis: Everyone has a secret. Everyone has a motive. But only one of them brought a knife to the party…
To celebrate the end of high school, Izzy Morales joins her best friend Kassidy and five friends on a luxury 1920s-themed getaway at the glamorous Ashwood Manor. There, Izzy and her friends party in vintage dresses and expensive diamonds – until Kassidy’s boyfriend turns up dead.
And when a raging storm traps them on the island with two detectives, the sparkling young socialites become the prime suspects in his murder. There’s the girlfriend, and the other girl. The old friend, and the new friend. The brooding enigma. And then, there’s Izzy – the girl who brought the knife…
How to Find a Missing Girl by Victoria Wlosok

This popped up with the promise of being perfect for fans of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, so I really hope it lives up to that. I’ve never heard of this book or the author before so it will be super fun to discover something new.
Synopsis: A year ago, beloved cheerleader Stella Blackthorn vanished without a trace. Devastated, her younger sister, Iris, launched her own investigation, but all she managed to do was scare off the police’s only lead and earn a stern warning: Once she turns eighteen, more meddling means prison-level consequences.
Then, a year later, the unthinkable happens. Iris’s ex-girlfriend, Heather, goes missing, too—just after dropping the polarizing last episode of her true crime podcast all about Iris’s sister. This time, nothing will stop Iris and her amateur sleuthing agency from solving these disappearances.
But with a suspicious detective watching her every move, an enemy-turned-friend-turned-maybe-more to contend with, and only thirty days until she turns eighteen, it’s a race against the clock for Iris to solve the most dangerous case of her life.
Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins Volume 1 & 2 by Matthew Mercer & Matthew Colville

I can’t believe this is the first time I am talking about Critical Role on here. I’ve never really found a post to talk about it on but here we are. I’ve been debating whether to buy these graphic novels as physical or Kindle editions for quite some time. Well, I’ve finally decided to buy the physical ones as I want to have a Critical Role dedicated shelf on my bookshelf – I’ll hopefully be able to share some exciting news relating to this soon!
Synopsis: From the creators of the hit show “Critical Role” comes Vox Machina’s origin story! Writers Matthew Mercer and Matthew Colville team with artist extraordinaire Olivia Samson and colorist Chris Northrop to bring you the story of where the heroes’ journey began.
The band of adventurers known as Vox Machina will save the world. Eventually. But even they have to start somewhere.
Six would-be heroes on seemingly different jobs find their paths intertwined as they investigate shady business in the swamp town of Stilben. They’ll need to put their heads– and weapons–together to figure out what’s going on…and keep from being killed in the process. Even then, whether or not they can overcome what truly lurks at the bottom of the town’s travails remains to be seen!
