Review:
Hot for Slayer was the pick me up I desperately needed. I donโt pick up novellaโs very often as I often find they leave me wanting more, but this was seriously great. My love for vampire books may have been reignited with a certain scene near the end, no spoilers from me though!
I canโt quite believe Ali Hazelwood got me so invested in two characters in less than 100 pages. How is the romance in Hot for Slayer better than most of the books Iโve been reading recently? Itโs actually crazy.
Iโm obsessed with the idea of a vampire hunter falling for the vampire theyโre supposed to kill. Heโs literally been hunting her for hundreds of years but only so he can stay close because he loves her. โI might not remember my name, or anything about who I am. But I could never be near you and not know exactly what you are to me.โ Ugh, Ali Hazelwood you know how to write a male main character that YEARNS. I love a man thatโs pathetically in love.
Thereโs also a surprising amount of action in Hot for Slayer, which keeps the story moving nicely. Even the moments spent not doing a lot, they literally do Sudoku at one point, didnโt feel like filler. Every tiny detail played into the overall plot and considering its short length, nothing felt rushed.
Hot for Slayer would have been incredible as a full length novel. I havenโt read any of Ali Hazelwoodโs paranormal novels yet but I’m seriously excited to check them out now. Bride is actually one of my next planned reads.
