Synopsis:
The Wrong Bachelor is a feel-good high school rom-com bound to make you laugh, cry, swoon and fall in love all at the same time!
A desirable potential boyfriend. AKA not Cole Kingston.
Seventeen-year-old Madison (Madi) Matthews wants nothing to do with the dating competition her school is holding to raise money for charity. She’s never been interested in chasing a guy before, and she certainly isn’t interested in competing for one in front of the whole school.
But, when Madi is voted as one of the ten “lucky” contestants, she’s given no choice but to vie for the heart of Lincoln High’s most eligible bachelor. The problem is, they’ve chosen the wrong guy.
Cole Kingston might be good looking, great with a football and practically the king of Lincoln High, but he’s also cocky, arrogant, a serial flirt and Madi’s sworn enemy.
Will she be able to resist him though when the competition heats up and he turns his charms on her?
Review:
I had this book downloaded with Kindle Unlimited over a year and a half ago but never picked it up. I’ve basically only decided to read it now because the cancellation of my Kindle Unlimited subscription didn’t go through so I had to get my money’s worth by reading as many books as I can. Also, I’ve had a picture ready for this review for that entire time so there’s no point wasting it.
I went into The Wrong Bachelor with no expectations which is exactly what you need to do with highschool romances. I wasn’t hoping for anything life changing and that’s a good mentality to have. This was actually a pretty solid read and I do enjoy a clean romance.
Reading this made me reminisce on the one time I watched a season of The Bachelor. It was when I was a young teen (more than 10 years ago) and I’ve never seen an episode since. The competition part was really fun though. The group dates were just chaos and some girls were literally out for blood. Which is funny when you remember the whole thing is for charity. This type of competition would never work in a UK school though, no one would care. Not that we hate charity in the UK, completely the opposite. UK teens would not care about a bachelor style show starring the people in your class.
The banter between Madi and Cole was well written and their relationship was believable. You could see how the foundation of them being childhood friends would make them feel something more when they’re older. I do also love a one sided “enemies to lovers”. Cole was sunshine personified when it came to Madi whereas she hated him.
There’s not too much to comment on with this book. It’s highly predictable but that’s quite nice sometimes. The Wrong Bachelor is a very decent read and is perfect for a younger audience as it’s a clean romance but there is a minimal amount of swearing. So just bear that in mind.
