Synopsis:
Persephone was ready to start a new life when she left the mortal realm for Olympus. However, she quickly discovered the dark side of her glamorous new home—from the relatively minor gossip threatening her reputation to a realm-shattering violation of her safety by the conceited Apollo—and she’s struggling to find her footing in the fast-moving realm of the gods. Hades is also off-balance, fighting against his burgeoning feelings for the young goddess of spring while maintaining his lonely rule of the Underworld. As the pair are drawn ever closer, they must untangle the twisted webs of their past and present to build toward a new future.
Review:
I don’t know why I waited so long to continue this series but I’m seriously regretting it. I’m obsessed with Lore Olympus.
I’m also still absolutely obsessed with the art style. The character designs are so unique and stunning. Rachel Smythe is so good at emotion. You can always tell exactly how a character feels from their facial expressions.
The cutest moment of the entire volume is Persephone growing blue flowers in her hair when Hades compliments her. She’s adorable. Her personality is really starting to shine now and I really can’t wait to see where her story goes.
As someone who finds big age gaps gross in real life, I’ve never wanted a 2000+ old and a 19 to get together so bad. I suppose it’s less weird because they’re both immortal. Hades also doesn’t give me predator vibes, he seems so sweet and genuine–this is only volume two though so everything could change. The ending of this volume could suggest otherwise, but I do believe he has Persephone’s best interest at heart.
I do think the pacing of Lore Olympus is a little slow but I actually quite like that. Graphic novels that rush through the story are not for me, I like a good medium pace.
I will 1000% be continuing this series–I promise to not leave such a huge gap this time.
