Monthly Wrap Up: May 2026

It seems like my reading wrap up posts are getting shorter each month. I finished a staggering four books (hold your applause), one of which was a read I adored and the others were ok. Not the worst month quality wise but I did have some DNFs – hence the huge gaps in reading dates.

Unexpectedly Mine by Erin Hawkins

Read: 2/5/26 – 13/5/26

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This book took me way longer to read than I expected. So much so that I didn’t really get to utilise my three month Kindle Unlimited subscription. A couple of bad reads with the service (this one not included) put me off downloading anything else for fear of wasting my time.

Unexpectedly Mine however was pretty good. I didn’t enjoy it as much as other instalments of this series of standalones but that was mostly down to my disjointed reading experience. The plot was really fun and I love a man that falls first and harder. Griffin was honestly the blueprint for great book boyfriends – that man was a giver.

Synopsis: Emma

Since the man I thought I would be walking down the aisle with broke up with me, I’ve been focused on my business.

As the designer of Emma Belle Bridal Gowns, headlining the Blushing Bride Convention in Las Vegas has been the highlight of my year. And the legendary editor of The Dress magazine wants to feature me in their upcoming issue?

A dream come true.

And it’s my birthday! Nothing can get me down…except maybe my ex’s engagement splashed across social media.

What’s a girl to do other than drink a truck load of champagne and see a male revue show?

When a dancer pulls me up on stage, the chemistry between us is undeniable.

Forget holy matrimony, I’m going to lower my expectations for one night.

One night that just may last forever.

Griffin

One last night…

After twelve years raising my baby sister, Sophie, and dancing for Las Vegas’s top male revue in order to pay bills and ensure she graduates college, I’m ready to hang up my tearaway pants and start a new life.

My intentions were to protect Emma, a captivating and tipsy woman at the show, from doing something she regrets. With chemistry neither of us can deny, the night takes an unexpected turn and we find ourselves waking up married.

It happens. We’ll correct our mistakes and move on.

But with a viral wedding video, our nuptials end up on Page Six, and Emma needs me in New York to play the part of doting new husband for a career-boosting interview.

I’ll play the part, do what she asks, then we’ll part ways.

Emma’s smart, enchanting and beautiful…and completely unexpected.

But right now, I have nothing to offer a woman like her, let alone forever.

The Mistake by Elle Kennedy

Read: 13/5/26 – 14/5/26

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

What makes this reading month look even worse is the fact that I read this book in two sittings across 15 hours. I’m not sure when I shifted to reading physical books faster than Kindle books but after my last few physical reads, that is very evident.

I’d be lying if I said Logan from the TV show wasn’t the reason why I decided to pick this up. I was always going to read this series anyway as I read book once a little while ago but my god did I love the show. Logan is much less of a himbo in the show though, I’m intrigued to see how his story changes based on this. He’s not the player he’s shown to be in the books.

I enjoyed The Deal but The Mistake is my current favourite. Probably because I saw a lot more of myself in Grace than I did Hannah. I could relate to her character more – especially the nervous rambling.

Part of me wishes the second season of the show would be Logan and Grace’s story but it makes sense for it to be Allie and Dean. My prediction is that they’re going to do the first half of this book in the next season.

Synopsis: He’s a player in more ways than one . . .

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game . . .

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat . . . and she plans on driving him wild.

Hotel Limbo by Ben Harel

Read: 18/5/26

Rating: 4 out of 5.

*I was given an ARC of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review*

This is a super fun graphic novel with a story that gets darker the further in you get. The differing art styles keep you engaged and the promise of a villain in volume two is pretty exciting.

Synopsis: Welcome to the afterlife… May we take your bags?

Hijinks and heartbreak await as this fan-favorite online comic becomes a gorgeous graphic novel!

After awakening in the middle of nowhere, a young man is forcefully inducted into the Hotel Limbo as its new bellboy (“BB” for short). Faced with magical masks, giant cats, a mysterious staff, and a hotel that just won’t sit still, BB will soon learn that helping with “baggage” means something very different when all the guests are dead.

In this series debut, writer Ben Harel teams up with 28 artists (!) from around the world to breathe life into a story about death. As comedy dances with drama and mystery, every tonal shift and blurred line is accentuated by an ever-changing visual style, creating a genre-bending medley of deadly (and death-ly) adventures.
