Music Review: Out Of My Hands by The Great Leslie

Having formed back in 2019 The Great Leslie are no strangers to the industry. Playing at impressive venues such as The Camden Assembly, The Anchor and The Raven and even receiving radio air time on BBC Introducing for their single Money it’s clear to see that they have buckets of talent and potential.

The Great Leslie recently released a music video for Out Of My Hands (which can be found at the end of the review) that has received a hugely positive response.

Out Of My Hands is about being truthful to yourself about who you are, the faults you may have and accepting that you may not be able to change these. Learn to love yourself and don’t beat yourself up over things you cannot change.

Lead singer Ollie Trevers’ tone has a calming and beautifully smooth quality to it which perfectly reflects the meaning of the lyrics. There’s something very honest and humble about his delivery and style that makes you want to believe every word that is sung.

The track takes a different approach for the band debuting a more acoustic laidback sound. Plucky guitars are the vocals only accompaniment for the first part of Out Of My Hands.

Not too long after the chorus kicks in and the track bursts into life. Lightly crashing drums and melodic guitars come together to create an upbeat feeling that is nothing sort of infectious. Fusing all of this together allows Out Of My Hands to sit on the brink of anthemic.
