Tangled up in Blue by Marion Castella
Honestly, writing this post is the first time I’ve read the synopsis of this book. It sounds like a lovely read but not something I can see myself picking up any time soon. Looking at the publish date, I would have “bought” this (it was a free download) when it was published. The fact that it has sat on my Kindle for so long will tell you all you need to know about the verdict of this book.

Synopsis: Luke Perlith is a closeted black teenager with a gift for piano playing, two things he tries to keep private from the world. When he meets the wealthy swimmer Santos Rodriguez, both of his secrets are at risk of being revealed when Santos hears his music and talks of record deals and concerts. When Luke’s father is struck in a car accident, however, Santos is the one who has his own secrets to tell.
Nightmares by Erica Stevens
I used to love a paranormal romance, like an unhealthy amount. As a teen I read them all the time. I feel like they aren’t as common these days. Either that or my taste has changed so I’m not being recommended them anymore. It would be so interesting to read one I enjoyed as a teen to see if it holds up today – my instant thought is no, it feels like they’d be very of their time.
I don’t even recognise the name of this book, which is hilarious because I looked it up and it’s sitting on my Kindle and has been since 2019. Out of all of those free books I downloaded, including the ones in this post, I think I’ve read maybe four of them. I very quickly threw away my rule of not paying for books on my Kindle (I was a teen at the time working a zero hour contract in retail while studying at uni, I was broke) when I saw they’d discount hundreds of books each month for 99p. I’m so happy that’s still something they do. If you see me talking about new books I’ve bought on my Kindle, they’re going to cost £2.99 tops.

Synopsis: Avery never dreamed she’d have to leave her dad and friends behind to spend the summer with a mother she barely knows. Just when she thinks it can’t get any worse, the discovery she belongs to a coven of teenaged witches changes everything. Avery soon learns most of her life was built on a lie.
Though she doesn’t want to believe what the coven reveals, she can’t deny the power growing inside her. With little choice but to embrace her new life, Avery finds herself sinking into a world of magic and mystery. The deeper she goes, the more her feelings develop for Reid, another member of the coven.
Avery’s barely awakened to her powers before Regan arrives with evil intentions. When he forces Avery and her friends into his nightmare realm, each new horror he throws at them tests the limits of their powers and leaves Avery with the realization she’s different from the rest of the coven. There’s a reason why Regan wants her so badly, and the growing strength of her powers draws her toward the lure of darker magic.
Can Avery resist the darkness inside herself to save the people she loves most, or will she succumb to the temptation of Regan’s sinister promises of absolute power?
The Deviant Path to Olympus by Jonathan Vilario
Again, I don’t remember this book in the slightest and the fact that it has two ratings, no reviews and is the only book this author has published is strange. Sometimes I’ll look at the reviews for the books on my to be read to decide if I want to keep them or not but that’s not possible here.
