The Best Of: Beautiful Book Covers #37

Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron

Oh look here’s yet another cover with that art style I love so much. There’s something about a cover that looks hand painted that really draws me in. Thankfully, my shallowness didn’t come to bite me with this book, but it has in the past.

The cover was definitely the deciding factor when it came to buying this book. I mean just look at it. I’ve just checked out the artist Fernanda Suarez and I am obsessed with her Disney princess-inspired art.

The painted realism style is so beautiful and it definitely works for the fairytale aspects of this story. The main character Sophia is absolutely stunning and looks so badass in her ballgown that is torn and dirty. This is definitely up there with some of my all-time favourite covers.

Book Review: Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron

Synopsis: It’s 200 years since Cinderella found her prince, but the fairytale is over.

Sophia knows the story though, off by heart. Because every girl has to recite it daily, from when she’s tiny until the night she’s sent to the royal ball for choosing. And every girl knows that she has only one chance. For the lives of those not chosen by a man at the ball. are forfeit.

But Sophia doesn’t want to be chosen – she’s in love with her best friend, Erin, and hates the idea of being traded like cattle. And when Sophia’s night at the ball goes horribly wrong, she must run for her life. Alone and terrified, she finds herself hiding in Cinderella’s tomb. And there she meets someone who will show her that she has the power to remake her world.”

A Hunt of Shadows by Elise Kova

Elise Kova is yet to let me down with one of her covers. Every single one is absolutely stunning and A Hunt of Shadows may be my favourite yet. Well, it’s probably just behind Air Awakens as that is ridiculously pretty, but it’s close.

Eira looks insanely beautiful and blue has always been my favourite colour for covers. This is definitely my favourite cover for her character design and the blue fits her icy magic and personality so well. I need to find out who designs Elise Kova’s covers because they’ve got to be up there with my favourite cover arts of all time.
