The Best Of: Books That Should Have Adaptations #8

I always get stupidly excited when I see that a new adaptation is being made for a book I love. I do still get the fear of it being terrible, despite there being quite a few great adaptations recently.

All This Time by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott

I really liked the Five Feet Apart movie, even though it was quite heartbreaking. For this reason, I think All This Time would also make a great movie as it was honestly even more heartbreaking than Five Feet Apart.

I was completely absorbed in this story and I genuinely think it would translate extremely well into a movie format. There are great twists and such interesting characters and due to the jumps in time, I think it would keep the watcher invested in the story.

If you would like to read my review of All This Time you can do so here

Synopsis: Kyle and Kimberly have been the perfect couple all through high school, but when Kimberly breaks up with him on the night of their graduation party, Kyle’s entire world upends—literally. Their car crashes and when he awakes, he has a brain injury. Kimberly is dead. And no one in his life could possibly understand.

Until Marley. Marley is suffering from her own loss, a loss she thinks was her fault. And when their paths cross, Kyle sees in her all the unspoken things he’s feeling.

As Kyle and Marley work to heal each other’s wounds, their feelings for each other grow stronger. But Kyle can’t shake the sense that he’s headed for another crashing moment that will blow up his life as soon as he’s started to put it back together.

And he’s right.

American Royals by Katharine McGee

This is definitely something I would watch. With The Crown being so popular, who wouldn’t love an American (fictional) equivalent which is set today?

I really loved these books and I think they would make a great TV show. There’s so much drama happening on almost every page that I could imagine the show would have even more. I think this would suit the same kind of style as something like Jane The Virgin.

Imagine just how beautiful the costume design would be if this was a show? I do really love the dresses in the old-style monarchy shows, but imagine what they would look like in one from today. Sign me right up!

Synopsis: What if America had a royal family?

When America won the Revolutionary War, its people offered General George Washington a crown. Two and a half centuries later, the House of Washington still sits on the throne.

As Princess Beatrice gets closer to becoming America’s first queen regnant, the duty she has embraced her entire life suddenly feels stifling.

Nobody cares about the spare except when she’s breaking the rules, so Princess Samantha doesn’t care much about anything, either . . . except the one boy who is distinctly off-limits to her.

And then there’s Samantha’s twin, Prince Jefferson. If he’d been born a generation earlier, he would have stood first in line for the throne, but the new laws of succession make him third. Most of America adores their devastatingly handsome prince . . . but two very different girls are vying to capture his heart.
