13 Going On 30 (2004)
This is another film I have watched a few too many times. Looking back I was potentially a bit too young to watch this when I saw it for the first time, however, it was something my sister and I bonded over.
The concept of this was wild to me as a kid and is even more wild as an adult. A thirteen-year-old finds themself in an adult body with a cool apartment and their dream job, absolutely crazy. However, I won’t lie to you and say I wasn’t (and still am) completely jealous. The job part, not being thirty at thirteen. Having the mind of a thirteen-year-old while dating someone that’s thirty is more than weird, especially the part with the guy trying to ‘get it on’ with Jenna. The acting is great but that scene still creeps me out.
This film is what made me fall in love with Mark Ruffalo. It’s actually insane how attractive he is in this film. His charisma is off the charts. Why hasn’t he been in more romcoms? That feels like a crime to me.
Apologies for how short this post is, I talked about this film in depth so I’ve kind of ran out of things to say about it and I don’t want to keep repeating myself. Anyway, check out my review of it below!
Another comfort film means another re-watch review: Re-Watch Review: 13 Going on 30
Synopsis: A girl who’s sick of the social strictures of junior high is transformed into a grownup overnight. In this feel-good fairy tale, teenager Jenna (Christa B. Allen) wants a boyfriend, and when she’s unable to find one, she fantasizes about being a well-adjusted adult. Suddenly, her secret desire becomes a reality, and she is transformed into a 30-year-old (Jennifer Garner). But adulthood, with its own set of male-female challenges, isn’t as easy as it looks.
