I’ve decided to start posting these every month as, at the time of starting this series, I didn’t realise just how many graphic novels I’ve read over the last couple of years. So, expect to see more graphic novel content from me this year.
Heartstopper Volume Two by Alice Oseman
This is actually my least favourite cover out of the entire series, but it’s still a really lovely cover. I think the muted colours are what make it my least favourite because it isn’t very eye-catching. However, I love how cute Nick and Charlie look.
Their character designs are just brilliant and I love the outfits they are wearing. I don’t know, it’s hard to explain why I like this one when it definitely my least favourite of the series but is still a great cover.
Synopsis: Nick and Charlie are best friends. Nick knows Charlie’s gay, and Charlie is sure that Nick isn’t.
But love works in surprising ways, and Nick is discovering all kinds of things about his friends, his family … and himself.
Aquicorn Cove by Kay O’Neill
I’ve said this far too many times, but Kay O’Neill’s art style is my absolute favourite. I could ramble on about it all day, but no one wants that.
If this cover doesn’t intrigue you to want to read this graphic novel then I don’t really know what else to say. The creature alone is enough to make me want to read it. Plus it just looks really cosy.
Synopsis: When Lana and her father return to their seaside hometown to help clear the debris of a storm, the last thing she expects is to discover a colony of Aquicorns—magical seahorse-like residents of the coral reef. As she explores the damaged town and the fabled undersea palace, Lana learns that while she cannot always count on adults to be the guardians she needs, she herself is capable of finding the strength to protect both the ocean, and her own happiness.
