To Be Read: ARC Update – May 2023

I don’t usually do these posts so close together, but I’ve been receiving a lot of amazing ARCs lately and I love sharing them with you all. I’m still (just about) on top of everything and I’ve read some great ones lately, so keep an eye out for upcoming reviews.

A few of the graphic novels I have on my Netgalley shelf right now are ones I got after they’d been published so I won’t bother talking about them in this post, but my reviews of them will either be up before I post this or within the next few weeks.

Cupid’s Revenge by Wibke Brueggemann – 8th June 2023

Ok, so this looks completely adorable and I’m very excited to get started with it very soon. I’ve never read anything from this author before, so I don’t know what to expect. But I love books about theatre as they make me feel so nostalgic.

Synopsis: For the record, it was never my intention to fall in love. But you know he’ll get you when you least expect it . . .

Tilly isn’t looking for a girlfriend, but her best friend Teddy is.

Enter Katherine beautiful, charming, and perfect for Teddy. So why does Tilly find herself using any excuse to join the theatre production they’re starring in?

And why can’t she stop thinking about Katherine?

A Spark in the Cinders by Jenny Elder Moke – 6th June 2023

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to have a book from Disney, especially a retelling. I think this is a new series they’re doing at the moment and I’m excited to see what they are about. Well obviously, this is about Cinderella, but you know what I mean.

Synopsis: The story has reached it’s happily ever after, the peasant girl has married her prince and become queen, all is well in the kingdom. . . But for Aralyn, the princesses stepsister, the story is only just beginning.

The kingdom of Novador has had a streak of misfortunes, with drought, famine, and disease plaguing the lands. According to a prophecy, restoring an ancient magical artifact– the Protector’s Blade– is the only thing that can pull the kingdom back from the brink of destruction. With inside information from her fairy godmother, Aralyn teams up with lady knight Vee to go questing for the shattered pieces of the blade that have been scattered to the furthest reached of Novador. To win each element of the dagger, the girls must prove themselves by using their strengths to conquer their greatest fear. Aralyn uses wisdom, Vee physical prowess, and Queen Ellarose who is ruling the kingdom, uses benevolence.

Together, these three powerful women fight to take their place as the rightful heirs to the kingdom.

Lose You to Find Me by Erik J. Brown – 16th May 2023

Romance books about food are my absolute favourite right now, they always make me feel hungry though. I’m on a real romance kick this year and I have a feeling this one is going to be great.

I’m writing this post way in advance, so there’s a possibility I’ve already read this before this post goes up. So expect to see a review in the next few days.
