To Be Read: June 2026

Heartbreaker by Anika Hussain

This book has been described as ‘John Tucker Must Die meets To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ which is so up my street it’s ridiculous. I haven’t watched either of those films recently but I have a feeling this book will make me want to soon.

This is a new author for me and this is their debut, so the perfect book to introduce me to their work. Which I’m very excited to do. Romance books are my everything at the moment and I really can’t get enough of them – I just wish I was able to read at my usual pace at the moment. Hopefully my June reads will reignite my love for reading!

Synopsis: He broke her best friend’s heart, so now Saachi plans to break his. May the best heartbreaker win . . .

Saachi would do anything for her best friend. So when school bad boy Fahim breaks Mona’s heart, Saachi is hellbent on getting revenge. It’s time to put him in his place once and for all.

And so begins Operation Heartbreaker: Saachi will make Fahim fall in love with her and then pull the plug on him – just like he does to every girl he’s ever dated. Simple.

Except as she spends more time with Fahim, against her better judgement, she finds herself falling for him. Unable to talk to Mona about her mixed emotions, and with the mission veering dangerously off course, Saachi will have to embrace her role as a heartbreaker or potentially end up with her own heart broken . . .

When in Rome by Sarah Adams

I talked about wanting to read this book quite recently, but it was in passing and I can’t even remember which post it was. However, I feel like I need a Sarah Adams’ romance in my life right now. Basically all I read at the moment are romance books but they make me happy so that’s not going to change any time soon.

I’ve only read one book in this ‘series’ so far, but I own all four books. The one I have read was a five star read and is to this day, one of my all time favourite romance books. Plus who doesn’t love a romance set in a small town – they seem to hit different for some reason.

Synopsis: Amelia Rose, known as Rae Rose to her adoring fans, is burned-out from years of maintaining her “princess of pop” image. Inspired by her favorite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, she drives off in the middle of the night for a break in Rome . . . Rome, Kentucky, that is.

When Noah Walker finds Amelia on his front lawn in her broken-down car, he makes it clear he doesn’t have the time or patience for celebrity problems. He’s too busy running the pie shop his grandmother left him and reminding his nosy but lovable neighbors to mind their own damn business. Despite his better judgment, he lets her stay in his guest room—but only until her car is fixed—then she’s on her own.

Then Noah starts to see a different side of Rae Rose—she’s Amelia: kindhearted and goofy, yet lonely from years in the public eye. He can’t help but get close to her. Soon she’ll have to return to her glamorous life on tour, but until then, Noah will show Amelia all the charming small-town experiences she’s been missing, and she’ll help him open his heart to more.

Amelia can’t resist falling for the cozy town and her grumpy tour guide, but even Audrey had to leave Rome eventually.

They Wish They Were Us by Jessica Goodman

Speaking of only reading romance books, I actually haven’t picked up a thriller in a very long time so I’m deciding to give Jessica Goodman’s books a go – her books are constantly recommended to me on my Kindle so it feels like a sign.

I really love thrillers, YA ones in particular, so hopefully this will be a fun and easy read for me. I’ve really avoided thrillers and fantasies recently as I’m struggling to read anything, but I think it’s time to pick them up again.

I also really love a thriller set at a boarding school. I’m not sure if this is a boarding school or not, but I’m hoping it is. The stakes are so high when they’re not able to get out of the situation.

Synopsis: A murder mystery set against the backdrop of an exclusive prep school on Long Island.

In Gold Coast, Long Island, everything from the expensive downtown shops to the manicured beaches, to the pressed uniforms of Jill Newman and her friends, looks perfect. But as Jill found out three years ago, nothing is as it seems.

Freshman year Jill’s best friend, the brilliant, dazzling Shaila Arnold, was killed by her boyfriend. After that dark night on the beach, Graham confessed, the case was closed, and Jill tried to move on.

Now, it’s Jill’s senior year and she’s determined to make it her best yet. After all, she’s a senior and a Player–a member of Gold Coast Prep’s exclusive, not-so-secret secret society. Senior Players have the best parties, highest grades and the admiration of the entire school. This is going to be Jill’s year. She’s sure of it.

But when Jill starts getting texts proclaiming Graham’s innocence, her dreams of the perfect senior year start to crumble. If Graham didn’t kill Shaila, who did? Jill vows to find out, but digging deeper could mean putting her friendships, and her future, in jeopardy.
