This is a post type I haven’t thought about in a very long time, however, they were really popular a few years ago. Having an active Kindle Unlimited subscription is one of the only times that I actually plan out my reading schedule fully. I’m the type of person that likes to make the most of my subscription no matter how much I’ve spent on it.
I’ve had a subscription for a few weeks now and I’m yet to check out a single title. Bringing back this series will give me the push to pick something up. It’s also fun to share what I’ve got on my list as some of you may discover new books/authors to check out!
Dear Phoebe by Danielle Keil
There’s a fairly high chance that I’ve read this before this post comes out, but after I enjoyed ‘season one’ of this series over the last few years, I thought why not check out the second season?
These books are such easy and entertaining reads, but don’t go into them expecting too much. They’re YA high school romance novellas so no complex relationship dynamics or even build up to a relationship. You have to go into these accepting that everyone wants to take part and they will end up in a relationship with their secret admirer – unless this is something that will be changed in season two.
Synopsis: Everyone at Ryder High knows what it means to have a teal envelope taped to their locker on the first day of the month.
The envelope is part of a tradition called the Secret Admirers, something the students go crazy for.
After tragedy struck, no one thought there would be an admirer this month.
However, a little late, a teal envelope shows up on Phoebe Calloway’s locker.
And with it, an ongoing playlist to use as clues toward the admirer’s identity.
It’s music to Phoebe’s ears—especially since music is her biggest passion. But she soon finds out it’s not the melody that’s important in the songs her admirer chose.
It’s the lyrics.
As the songs keep coming, she’s close to figuring out who he is—but is she prepared for the actual reveal?
The Fantasy League by Meg Reading
The Fantasy League has sat on my ‘KU books’ list for two years now, so it’s probably about time I check it out. This book ticks multiple boxes for me: fake dating, sports romance and food. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book with any of those tropes and for some reason faking dating in sports romances are really hitting for me at the moment. I’m not sure why. I’m not into sports at all. I’ll watch the ice skating at the Winter Olympics and that’s it, I don’t even watch Formula 1 anymore.
Synopsis: Tight end. Boss. Neighbor. Certified jerk.
Abel Abbott was many things but in need of a girlfriend? He certainly was not.
So, you could imagine Scarlett Sawyer’s surprise when he asked her to go from personal chef to pretend girlfriend on the day of her resignation.
She still had every intention of walking away from her ungrateful, ill-mannered boss until he made her an offer that she couldn’t help but consider. Not only would it bring her financial security, but it also had the power to make her one and only childhood dream come true.
Scarlett’s no became a tentative yes, and somewhere in the midst of their charade, the lines between ruse and reality became blurred.
The only question was, would an enigma from Abel’s recent past tear them apart for good or bring them closer together than ever?
Unexpectedly Mine by Erin Hawkins
I feel like I’ve mentioned this book before but I can’t remember when. This is a series I keep telling myself I’ll continue but then I never do. I skipped ahead to the last book as it was another fake dating one so I wanted to read it first. Thankfully, they don’t really relate other than the side characters. You know how these types of books will end anyway so finding out the main characters get together isn’t a surprise.
Synopsis: Emma
Since the man I thought I would be walking down the aisle with broke up with me, I’ve been focused on my business.
As the designer of Emma Belle Bridal Gowns, headlining the Blushing Bride Convention in Las Vegas has been the highlight of my year. And the legendary editor of The Dress magazine wants to feature me in their upcoming issue?
A dream come true.
And it’s my birthday! Nothing can get me down…except maybe my ex’s engagement splashed across social media.
What’s a girl to do other than drink a truck load of champagne and see a male revue show?
When a dancer pulls me up on stage, the chemistry between us is undeniable.
Forget holy matrimony, I’m going to lower my expectations for one night.
One night that just may last forever.
Griffin
One last night…
After twelve years raising my baby sister, Sophie, and dancing for Las Vegas’s top male revue in order to pay bills and ensure she graduates college, I’m ready to hang up my tearaway pants and start a new life.
My intentions were to protect Emma, a captivating and tipsy woman at the show, from doing something she regrets. With chemistry neither of us can deny, the night takes an unexpected turn and we find ourselves waking up married.
It happens. We’ll correct our mistakes and move on.
But with a viral wedding video, our nuptials end up on Page Six, and Emma needs me in New York to play the part of doting new husband for a career-boosting interview.
I’ll play the part, do what she asks, then we’ll part ways.
Emma’s smart, enchanting and beautiful…and completely unexpected.
But right now, I have nothing to offer a woman like her, let alone forever.
