Once again, I almost forgot about doing seasonal to be read posts. It’s so fun matching books to seasons, even if they may not be set during that time. I’m going off pure vibes and flowery covers for spring. It’s not really a season that has very distinct books but I think I’ve chosen some good ones.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

This cover gives off spring vibes so this will be my top pick for the season. I have no idea when the book actually takes place though.
I’ve wanted to check out this book for the longest time. I actually bought it way back when it was published but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I’d like to say exactly when I’ll be picking it up but I’ve been so bad at keeping up with my reading schedule that I’ve binned it for now.
Synopsis: A curmudgeonly professor journeys to a small town in the far north to study faerie folklore and discovers dark fae magic, friendship, and love in the start of a heartwarming and enchanting new fantasy series.
Cambridge professor Emily Wilde is good at many things: She is the foremost expert on the study of faeries. She is a genius scholar and a meticulous researcher who is writing the world’s first encyclopaedia of faerie lore. But Emily Wilde is not good at people. She could never make small talk at a party–or even get invited to one. And she prefers the company of her books, her dog, and the Fair Folk.
So when she arrives in the hardscrabble village of Hrafnsvik, Emily has no intention of befriending the gruff townsfolk. Nor does she care to spend time with another new arrival: her dashing and insufferably handsome academic rival Wendell Bambleby, who manages to charm the townsfolk, get in the middle of Emily’s research, and utterly confound and frustrate her.
But as Emily gets closer and closer to uncovering the secrets of the Hidden Ones–the most elusive of all faeries–lurking in the shadowy forest outside the town, she also finds herself on the trail of another mystery: Who is Wendell Bambleby, and what does he really want? To find the answer, she’ll have to unlock the greatest mystery of all–her own heart.
The Vanishing Cherry Blossom Bookshop by Takuya Asakura

Just by looking at the cover you can guess why I think this will be a great spring read. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a spring-y cover before, it’s absolutely stunning.
This isn’t a style of book I pick up very often but I was so intrigued by the title and cover that I thought I’d give it a go. I’m not massively into general fiction but I’m willing to give all genres a chance.
Synopsis: As the last petal falls, the final page is turned…
Welcome to The Cherry Blossom Bookshop, a haven for book lovers that only appears during the fleeting cherry blossom season. Nestled amidst the bloom of delicate petals, you’ll find a sanctuary for those burdened by regrets and past sorrows. Here, Sakura, the mysterious young owner, and her wise calico cat, Kobako, patiently await the arrival of souls in need of solace and healing.
Told over four seasons, each visitor to the bookshop holds a book that bridges their past and present, guiding them towards understanding and acceptance. Within the antique charm of the shop and the soothing aroma of freshly brewed coffee, Sakura and Kobako help their guests confront their lingering sadness through the power of stories, enabling them to move forward with renewed hope.
Wisteria by Adalyn Grace

I think it’s about time for me to finish this series. I’ve really been putting it off because I don’t want it to end, but I really do want to know what’s going on after the events of book two.
My journey with this series started with an ARC quite some time ago and it was an extremely pleasant surprise. It’s such an intriguing concept and who knew a book about Death would be so lovely?
This is probably one of my favourite more recent series I’ve read, but the final book could change all of that. Here’s to hoping that book three is just as good as the first two.
Synopsis: Blythe Hawthorn has never let anyone tell her what to do… and she’s not about to start now.
Headstrong and passionate, she won’t be ruled by society, or by her overprotective father, and certainly not by the man she’s bound herself to, no matter how insufferable he is. She’s determined to be a thorn in his side for the rest of her days, even as he ensues that her life in his palace is anything but the decadent fairytale she imagined. But as Blythe discovers a new side of herself linked to his past, she’ll have to decide if she’s willing to let an unexpected spark ignite… and discover the real truth about who she is inside.
Wisteria is a sensational conclusion to the deathly and decadent Belladonna trilogy, with dramatic twists and a seductive new romance that will set readers’ hearts ablaze.
