January is usually the month for new beginnings and trying new things. Well not for me. I’m very much going to continue watching shows and films I’ve seen before and have a great time doing so. I’ll definitely check out some new shows later this year but right now I want comfort and nostalgia.
This is a bit of a sneak preview for what I watched in December– coming early next week–but I’ve been bingeing The Vampire Diaries like crazy. I haven’t watched the show since it was released and I’ve only seen it once. After reading Honeybites by I.S. Belle, I got a sudden craving to watch something vampire-related and it was either The Vampire Diaries or Twilight. As The Vampire Diaries has a ton more content, I decided to go with it.
It’s been so long since I watched the show it’s basically like I’m watching it for the first time again. Other than a few episodes that I remember vividly. Watching it as an adult is a completely different experience. It’s actually laughable that they tried to pass off these actors as 17-year-olds. Stefan and Damon look at least mid thirties and that’s in the first season. I’m still 100% team Damon though, something about Stefan is just gross to me. Which is hilarious because when I first watched it I liked Stefan to begin with but now I realise he’s actually worse than Damon. At least he admits to not being a good person.
Anyway, my plan is to continue bingeing The Vampire Diaries throughout January. I’m currently in one of those moods where I don’t want to watch anything new as I need the comfort of knowing what’s going to happen–a common trait for people with ADHD apparently. Even though I can’t remember exactly what happens each episode, I do have the comfort of knowing the general plot of what’s going on.
Speaking of rewatching programmes, my boyfriend and I have started yet another rewatch of The Witcher so we’re likely to continue that this month. Season one is still some of the best TV, in my opinion, and it pains me to think that Henry Cavill isn’t Geralt anymore. They have just cancelled the show. Recasting the main character rarely works out. I’ll potentially give the new season a try when it comes out, but I’m not looking forward to it.
I don’t really have plans to commit to anything else as I’m already assuming January will be a very busy month.
