Upcoming Adaptations: June – July 2025

I haven’t done one of these posts in a very long time and that’s because I either miss announcements of new adaptations or because there aren’t any book adaptations I’m excited about. So, I’ve decided to change these to just ‘Upcoming Adaptations’. That way I can talk about game adaptations, which seem to be quite popular after the success of The Last of Us and Fallout. This also doesn’t limit me to just talking about screen adaptations either. Sometimes you get backwards adaptations like a film or a game into a book, so that’s something else to talk about.

We Were Liars

While I had very mixed feelings towards the book, I’m actually really excited for this show. I’m hoping the pacing won’t be as much of an issue. Plus I adore Emily Lind and Rahul Kohli so it’s always great to see them in new projects.

When this was first announced I was convinced it would be a film as there’s only such content in one book, so I’m intrigued to see what’s been added to expand the story.

I feel like I’ve actually forgotten a lot of what happens in this book so a lot of the show will be a surprise to me. Which I’m quite looking forward to. I do remember some parts of the book being quite shocking so hopefully the show will have even more impact.

Synopsis: A 17-year-old girl survived a horrible accident at her family’s summer home two years ago that she cannot remember. She returns, determined to remember the details of her accident but as the pieces start to come together, she discovers not only the painful truth of that night, but a shocking revelation about herself.

The Summer I Turned Pretty – season three

I am VERY apprehensive for this season. I pretty much hated season two as they completely butchered Conrad’s character and Jeremiah is the worst. Don’t come for me, he is. He cheats on Belly because she isn’t ready for sex. To make up for this he proposes to her. He SUCKS.

It feels like the show was really trying to push them together. When I watched season one I hadn’t read any of the books yet so I didn’t mind their storyline as she ended up with Conrad by the end of the season. However, after reading all of the books, I really didn’t like all of the changes they made in the second season.

I always have been and always will be a Conrad girl. If you followed my reviews of the first season you’ll know how true that is. I don’t think I’d read the books by then either, I just knew Jeremiah was a bad egg.

Anyway, this doesn’t come out for another month yet (July 26th) but there’s not a lot going on adaptation wise at the moment. Like I said in the introduction, I’m changing these posts to just ‘upcoming adaptations’.

Synopsis: A girl is caught in a love triangle between two brothers as she deals with her first love and first heartbreak during the perfect summer.
