I’ve definitely watched more than the three shows I’m talking about in this post but I’m struggling to remember what happened when. This year is already going too fast and I can’t believe we’re almost halfway through the month already.
The White Lotus
I finally jumped on the bandwagon and watched The White Lotus. Honestly guys, I don’t get the hype. I do think how they show the conclusion of the season at the very start so you have this horrible event hanging over everything that happens is a great structure for a show. However, I did find it a little boring at times. I don’t know. I think it’s just been extremely overhyped so I was expecting more.
I’ve only watched one episode of season three so far. Which is the whole reason why I’m watching it in the first place. I adore Aimee Lou Wood, I’ll watch anything she’s in. I started from season one because I didn’t realise they aren’t connected. I’d say I enjoyed it enough to watch both of the first seasons but I wouldn’t rush to pay for Now TV when a new season comes out.
Synopsis: An all-star cast heads to a resort to unleash their worst, most privileged impulses. The series is a sharp social satire following the exploits of various guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain, whose stay becomes affected by their various dysfunctions. A week in the life of vacationers unravels as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise; with each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel’s cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself.
The Last of Us
The Last of Us season two is the reason why I’m paying for Now TV currently. During April I actually only watched the first two episodes, so I’ll just talk about those for now. Brilliant. That’s the best way I can describe them. I’ve been loving the new storylines as it makes me believe that anything from the game can be changed. I was absolutely convinced that Maria was going to die when Jackson was attacked by Infected. I’m glad she didn’t though. I don’t think Tommy could handle losing his wife and his brother. Which is a huge spoiler but if you haven’t played or at least watched someone else play the game, that’s on you.
I knew Joel’s death would come early in the season but I didn’t expect it to affect me so much. The acting was almost too good. I thought I was over Joel dying but the show bought all of the emotions back from when I first experienced it in 2020. Top tier television. This show is so good.
Synopsis: 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed, Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal heartbreaking journey as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Andor
I’ll have a lot more to say about Andor season two during my May What I Watched as the later episodes have been off the charts incredible. I’m talking some of the best TV I’ve ever seen. However, the season as a whole has been great. This show puts all other live action Star Wars series to shame.
Synopsis: The series will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
