What I Watched: February 2026

I want to say I watched a lot of different shows last month but apparently I can only remember two. Clearly, I need to start writing these posts throughout the month. I was planning to talk about Finding Her Edge and how ridiculously different it is from the book, but I watched it literally three days ago.

Heated Rivalry

Ok, so I actually watched this in January (twice) but for some reason I forgot to mention it in last monthโ€™s post. It completely took over my life and apparently that meant I forgot to talk about watching it even though it was one of the best things I watched.

Like with most adaptations, I read the book before the show so I had a good idea of what I was getting myself into, and I loved every minute of it. Iโ€™ll be honest and say the Scott and Kip episode threw off the pacing a little, but it is an important episode. Iโ€™m just feeling a little down that I didnโ€™t love their book as much.

Anyway, what an incredible show. Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams (and the entire cast) were phenomenal. I also didnโ€™t realise at the time that Sophie Nelisse plays Rose, but I hadnโ€™t watched Yellowjackets at that point (more on this in the next section of this post).

I canโ€™t wait for season two. I havenโ€™t read The Long Game yet, but I 100% will before it comes out.

Synopsis: Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are two of the biggest stars in Major League Hockey, bound by ambition, rivalry and a magnetic pull neither of them fully understands. What begins as a secret fling between two confused teenagers at 17 evolves into a years-long journey of love, denial, and self- discovery. Over the next eight years, as they chase glory on the ice, they struggle to navigate their feelings off of it. Torn between the sport they live for and the love they can’t ignore, Shane and Ilya must decide if there’s room in their fiercely competitive world for something as fragile (and powerful) as real love.

Yellowjackets

The star of February was definitely Yellowjackets. Itโ€™s been on my to watch list for so long and I canโ€™t believe it has taken me till now to get to it. I am utterly obsessed with this show. I watched all three seasons in just under a week and Iโ€™m already wanting to start it again. My plan is to convince my partner to watch it.

Iโ€™ll be honest and say I prefer the scenes in the wilderness as I prefer the โ€˜teenโ€™ cast. Both sides of the show are good, but the wilderness sections are so good. I do love adult Misty though, but that may just be because Iโ€™ve loved Christina Ricci since I was a kid.

Iโ€™ve seen a lot of people say that only season one of this show is great, but I think itโ€™s all incredible. The first season is a little grittier and the later ones do get a little out there with the โ€˜spiritualnessโ€™ but Iโ€™ve enjoyed every episode so far and Iโ€™m so excited for the final season.

Synopsis:Part survival epic, part psychological horror story, and part coming-of-age drama, “Yellowjackets” is the saga of a wildly talented girls high school soccer team, who become the unlucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. This series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team, to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together twenty-five years later; proving that what lies in the past is never really past, and what began out in the wilderness, 25 years ago, is far from over.

Abbott Elementary

This is one of those shows that has been on my radar for a long time but I just havenโ€™t gotten around to watching it. Well, obviously that changed in February and I actually got through the first two seasons. Itโ€™s such a good โ€˜have it on in the backgroundโ€™ type of show. It has become my late show when I know my attention span isnโ€™t great but I want something on the TV.

I do love a sit-com and this is definitely one of the better ones of the last few years. I feel like theyโ€™re a dying genre as no one wants to make seasons with so many episodes anymore. Weirdly, this show either has 22 episodes a season or 8. Thereโ€™s also one season with 13 episodes. So weird, I wonder why theyโ€™ve done that?

This show is likely to pop up a few more times over the coming months as Iโ€™ll be making my way through the rest of the seasons. Iโ€™m not going to rush it though, itโ€™s rare I find a show I can really switch off while watching (I mean this in a positive way).

Synopsis: A group of dedicated, passionate teachersโ€“and a slightly tone-deaf principalโ€“find themselves thrown together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they doโ€“even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.
