Finding Her Edge
This may be one of the worst book to TV adaptations I have ever watched. Firstly, it’s nothing like the book. They basically just used the character names and kept the theme of skating. Secondly, it’s just badly written. I couldn’t tell if the acting was bad or if it was the scripts – maybe a little bit of both?
Also, the fact that they didn’t even try to hide the stunt doubles during the skating had me absolutely howling with laughter. I constantly screamed ‘who is that?!’ when they’d show a middle-aged man that was supposed to be Freddie or Brayden. I had tears of laughter streaming down my face. It makes me think that they put basically no effort into this show. There are so many creative camera angles they could have used to disguise the stunt doubles. They also could have hired younger people that look even a little like the actors.
I did get through the entire show but at what cost? I can’t believe so many amazing shows get cancelled all the time and yet this is getting a second season.
Synopsis: Three sisters navigate the pressures of their family’s figure skating legacy. Adriana, trains with new partner Brayden while still loving ex-partner Freddie. A fake romance with Brayden for sponsorship adds to her challenges.
Companion
This was on my watch list for a very long time and since bingeing Yellowjackets I’ve become a little obsessed with Sophie Thatcher. She was by far the best part of this film. I think the concept is really interesting but the execution wasn’t incredible. The film was very entertaining (some of the acting was a little iffy) but I don’t know if I’d choose to watch this again.
I’m planning on watching Heretic at some point, which I’ve wanted to watch for a while, but have just realised it’s also Sophie Thatcher.
Synopsis: Since Iris and Josh met in a supermarket, the two have been inseparable. Now they want to spend the weekend together with Josh’s friends at the luxurious lake estate of Sergey. His mistress Kat, and friends Eli and Patrick will also be there. At first, Iris is unsure, convinced that everyone hates her. After a bumpy start, the six spend a boisterous evening together. But the following morning will change their lives forever.
Critical Role: Campaign 2
My bi-monthly binge watch of campaign two lasted about three days but I did get through a few episodes in that time. I tend to get very deeply pulled back into this campaign again for a few days and then I won’t watch it for a long time.
I’ve just got to the episodes where the romance really begins. I’m a big Beau and Yasha fan, but I find Jester and Fjord so sweet.
I have 14 episodes left but I have no idea how long it will take me to get through them. My weekends are about to become very busy as we’re about to start the Flyball competition season.
Synopsis: Set in the magical world of Exandria, on the continent of Wildemount, Critical Role’s Mighty Nein campaign is the story of a group of motley and chaotic adventurers who find themselves caught in the middle of a war between two nations.
Smosh
I was a huge Smosh fan way back in maybe 2010, I can’t remember exactly when, but I feel like I outgrew it quite quickly. My taste in Youtube videos very quickly shifted from comedy sketches to gaming, and even though Smosh did both, I lost interest in the channel. Until recently.
While browsing for something chill to put on in the background, I came across the Smosh videos Jacksepticeye was in a few months ago. Instead of these being on in the background, I spent the entire day glued to the screen watching video after video.
When I was on Twitter, I used to see a lot of stuff about the Smosh cast. So I knew a little about who was on the current cast. I also have reels of them pop up every so often. Before I even checked out their new content, I knew I loved Angela – we have a very similar energy/vibe. I also absolutely love Spencer, which feels like a canon event for anyone watching Smosh.
For those interested, I’ve been watching a lot of their gaming content: both Resident Evil series, Shayne and Spencer guessing games and the cast playing horror games. There’s also been a lot of compilation watching, mostly of Spencer because I think he’s the funniest.
