Critical Role Campaign 4
I am seriously loving campaign 4 so far, if you couldn’t tell by the fact that I’m reviewing every single episode. Brennan Lee Mulligan is such a masterful story teller and when you add the decade of experience from the Critical Role cast, you get something really special.
The split tables are beginning soon and I can’t wait to see how it will work. There are a few characters that I’m not that interested in yet, but that’s to be expected with 13 players.
Synopsis: Hero to many. Enemy to some. When Thjazi Fang is marked for execution, various figures from across his remarkable life unite to uncover the truth behind his grim fate. In a land still suffering from the fallout of dead gods and living in the shadow of a tumultuous rebellion, these disparate people will come together across the fractured world of Aramán and connect in ways they never imagined.
As hope and victory fade, a question hangs over Aramán. Without the Gods, what great deeds now fall to us? And who, or what, shall grab their crown from themselves?
Goosebumps (2023)
It took me two years but I finally got around to watching this show and honestly, I was not disappointed. I thought it was pretty good. I loved Goosebumps as a kid, the books and the show, even though both terrified me. I remember very specifically having nightmares about the mask and the worms. So imagine my excitement when both play a huge role in this show.
The first two episodes are a little ‘meh’, but as this show was most of the cast’s first job, you can look past some of the overacting. The further you get in, the story becomes super compelling, the last few episodes feel like an entirely different show. The vibes are great throughout though. It’s a very entertaining watch.
Synopsis: “Goosebumps” is a horror series telling the story of a group of high school students who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together thanks to and in spite of their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with each other in order to save it, learning much about their own parents’ teenage secrets in the process.
The Celebrity Traitors
I’ve never watched The Traitors before, nor have I been that interested in it. I’m not a fan of reality TV and I really don’t care about watching reality shows with regular people. Now, a celebrity version of something where I actually know who 90% of the cast are, does interest me. Plus, I kept seeing clips of Alan Carr on this and I love him. That is what convinced me to check it out.
I think this has been hilarious so far. They’re really not doing a good job of banishing the traitors. If I’m correct, I think this is the worst any cast has ever done on this show. Which is even funnier because they’re celebrities.
Can we just talk about how great Claudia Winkleman is? I’ve never seen her be so serious and it’s great. This whole show is extremely camp but in a spooky way, which gets top marks from me. I can’t wait for next week’s episodes.
Synopsis: A psychological game show that follows celebrities where the contestants are trying to outwit, outplay, and outlast the challenge.
Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires
Is it a little sad how much I enjoy these films? I know I would have been obsessed with them as a kid. Spooky stuff and singing are basically two of my favourite things and always have been. My favourite Disney Channel original movies when I was a kid were the Halloweentown series, Wendy Wu, Twitches, Camp Rock and High School Musical 2. Take from that list what you will, but I think it solidifies my love of all things spooky and singing.
I actually really enjoyed this instalment. I do think the first film is still the best in the series but I really enjoy all of them. Plus, I’m always after more Milo Manheim in my life.
Synopsis: Zed and Addison discover the warring worlds of Sunnyside and Shadyside on a summer road trip after their first year of college, encountering two new groups of monsters.
School Spirits season two
Speaking of wanting more Milo Manheim in my life, I’ve finally gotten around to watching season two of School Spirits. I love this show, it’s ridiculously good. However, it is the type of show that I need to just sit and watch, no distractions. There are certain shows I don’t like to do while working on blog posts and this is one of them.
I haven’t finished the season yet, so I’m really excited to see how it ends as season three has been announced (and filmed I think) already.
Synopsis: High school can feel like an eternity. For some students at Split River High, it literally is. Maddie, a 16-year-old girl, is newly deceased and finds herself trapped in afterlife-limbo at her high school, where she discovers that she’s stuck with those who have also died in the school over the past 100 years. For some reason she’s the only one who can still communicate with the living, so she uses her new-found abilities to help investigate her own murder.
