Synopsis:
Snowed In is the second book in the Fitzpatrick Christmas series of standalones romances by Catherine Walsh.
Megan is dreading going home for the holidays. Sheโs the village pariah, the she-devil who left local golden boy Isaac at the altar four years ago and ran away to the big city. She could really do without the drama. Particularly as heโs engaged again, and sheโs just been dumped for the fourth time this year.
Christianโs fed up of being on his own every Christmas. He doesnโt mind being alone , but he hates his familyโs sad eyes and soft tones as they sit around coupled up. Because heโs actually, totally, fine.
So when Megan literally bumps into Christian in a Dublin pub, they come up with a pact to see them through the holiday season. Theyโre going to be the very best fake dates for each other, ever.
Rules are drawn up, a contract is signed on a wine-stained napkin. They will sit through each otherโs family gatherings and be outrageously in love until freed from their annual obligations. After all, itโs only for a few weeks.
But with everyone home for the holidays, two big families to deal with alongside old friends, old flames and old feelings, things are bound to get messy. And when a snowed-in cabin and a little Christmas magic are added to the mix, anything could happenโฆ
Review:
Snowed In is only my second read from Catherine Walsh but sheโs quickly becoming one of my favourite romance authors. A couple of years ago I received an ARC of Holiday Romance, the first in this โseriesโ and it was one of my favourite festive reads of the year. Even though Snowed In wasnโt part of my โ12 books of Christmasโ series this year, it was one of my favourite festive romances of 2024.
We have ourselves a classic case of โhe falls first and harderโ and I LOVE it. Itโs obvious Christian is smitten from day one, which is exactly what I want from a male love interest. Give me all the pining, especially when he thinks she doesnโt feel the same.
Itโs so refreshing to read a festive book where none of the characters hate Christmas. That trope is so overused. Instead you get two main characters that, although arenโt Christmas crazy, are still into the season and want to spend it with their families. Well, Megan wasnโt overly excited to go home because of her past, but thatโs where Christian comes in.
Something else that is so refreshing, no third act break up! Thereโs also very little miscommunication which is just wonderful. Anytime there was a slight hint of real romance between Megan and Christian I was smiling like an idiot. Catherine Walsh is so good at writing realistic romance with just the right amount of comedy.
Iโve forgotten everything I loved about Snowed In in the time between finishing the book and writing this review (I put off reviewing it for weeks like an idiot) so this review is very short. Iโve loved both of Catherine Walshโs books Iโve read so far with both rated four stars, so Iโm definitely going to check out more in the future, even her non festive ones.
