Synopsis: 

The answer to your question will be revealed on the Lunar Eclipse. But when finding the truth, don’t let the shadows take you.

The week of The Reckoning has begun. And senior students have been tasked with making the freshmen’s lives pure hell as they prepare to take their fateful assessment.

With the Lunar Eclipse on the horizon, Tory and Darcy have more to worry about than just passing their exams. A dark plot is unfolding and the shadows are drawing closer… 

Review: 

Now, this is more like it. The writing is getting better, well less cringe, and I’m actually starting to get invested in the characters and story. I feel like some of the points of view were not needed. We’ll mostly just Max really because he doesn’t have a tie to either twin and his chapter didn’t add much to the story, it could have been told from any of the other Heir’s points of view. 

It seems unfair that to pass the reckoning the twins had to excel in all elements when some people only have one. I know it’s for the dramatics and whatnot but if I were them I would have kicked up a fuss. 

Some of the trials were a bit confusing. I still don’t really understand the point of the fire one. There wasn’t really a challenge to it if you ask me. But then again casting any type of magic would be a challenge for me so who am I to talk? 

You actually get some decent character development in this instalment and I know I shouldn’t but I really love Darius. I know he’s a bit of a jerk but he’s definitely a big softie on the inside. I’m calling it now. In book four we will see soft Darius. 

Speaking of jerks, ever since book one I’ve been suspicious of Diego and that suspicion has only risen in The Reckoning. There’s something o really don’t like about him and I feel like something big is going to happen with him in the next book. For a while I had a suspicion that he was a nymph, but only because he didn’t cast magic often and he seems very strange. Obviously, I know now that he isn’t so I feel a little silly but what a twist that would have been.

The spice was majorly turned up for The Reckoning, no complaints here though. The overall tone of the book seemed to be a bit more mature than the previous two and the inclusion of said spice was a major factor in that. Saying that, the characters are still very immature though, but I suppose the pranks, schemes, and whatnot are a big part of the story. The Heirs want the Vega twins out and they’ll do anything to make it happen and the twins go to extreme (and often childish) lengths to get their revenge. 

What I will say though is I’m loving the budding relationships. It was very obvious from the first book what the pairings would be, but I do like them. 

Honestly, I really enjoyed The Reckoning, it was the best instalment so far and I’m now quite excited to get onto the next.
