The Best Of: Comfort Films and TV Shows #5

Scooby-Doo: The Movie

It’s probably quite embarrassing to admit this, but I freaking love this film. I spent a lot of my childhood watching Scooby Doo as it was my favourite show. I’ve watched this film at least 10 times (that I can remember) and I’m still not bored of it. I actually re-bought the DVDs recently as they don’t seem to be on any streaming services. I think that proves just how much I love both of the live adaptation films.

I don’t think a film has ever been as perfectly casted as this. We need a new film with this cast that shows us what the gang is up to now. I’d watch the hell out of that and I think a lot of people would agree. They need to stop trying to make new films with different casts and bring back the old cast. The vibes would be immaculate.

When I watched this with my boyfriend I think he got secondhand embarrassment from me quoting every other line and knowing all of the songs. He literally turned round to me and said “how do you know the words to all of the songs?”. I’m obviously just really cool and have apparently seen this film too many times. It’s probably also the ADHD. I still watch old episodes of Scooby Doo to this day.

I’ve always been into ‘spooky stuff’ even as a kid, so you can probably see why I love this film so much. The monsters did scare me though. Which is hilarious now because they look so obviously fake.

I’m a real nostalgia watcher and this film is packed full of it for me.

Synopsis: After a bitter breakup and staying apart for two years, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and their dog, Scooby-Doo, reunite to investigate strange occurrences at a resort on Spooky Island.
