What I Watched: December 2024

I’m going for a different format for December’s what I watched post as I really didn’t get to watch too much TV. I spent a lot of time with family and early December was spent getting posts ready for January. That’s how organised I am being this year.

The most exciting thing I watched was the final ever episode of Gavin and Stacey. Absolute perfection. I would have liked less Sonia, but what brilliant TV. They’ve chosen the right time to end it as it would get a bit silly if they kept doing one off episodes. This one felt very nostalgic though. There were so many references to old episodes and I had to try my hardest to not burst into tears constantly. Both happy and sad.

I have a predominantly American readership so I don’t know how much they will know about British TV classics, but Outnumbered also released a Christmas special. However, this one was not good. The vibe was completely off and it was actually a little depressing. The whole point of that show was that the kids were unscripted so they’d say the most unhinged things. Having an episode that I assume is completely scripted as they are all adults now, really didn’t work.

My boyfriend and I have also been rewatching The Witcher. Not in preparation for the new season, I couldn’t care less about it if I’m being honest, but just because we love it so much. Season one is definitely the best and we’re currently halfway through it. I don’t remember the other two seasons as much but that’s probably because this is the third time I’ve watched season one now.

The show I watched the most in December was The Vampire Diaries. I decided on a random afternoon while finishing up work for the year that I wanted to rewatch it. I’m now on season two and I got through the first season in about two days. It’s so bad but so good. I love it.

Film wise I really didn’t watch much. None of our Christmas film traditions were upheld this year as we spent Christmas with family. But I did manage to squeeze in How The Grinch Stole Christmas before we travelled to our hometown.

Pretty short post this month, sorry about that. I’m hoping to start some new shows over the next few weeks so hopefully I’ll have more to talk about next month!
