When I first started this series I never expected it to become a monthly post. I used to be a series girl through and through but standalones have become my favourite in the past few years. I think I like knowing that the story will have a conclusion and I don’t have to wait potentially years to get a sequel. Does that make sense?
Loveless by Alice Oseman

Loveless is my favourite Alice Oseman novel I’ve read so far. I don’t think I’ll love anything they write as much as Heartstopper but this is my favourite novel. The characters are flawed, Georgia especially, but this book has a lot of feeling and they all go through a great deal of development.
When I wrote my review for this book I said I couldn’t really explain why I loved it so much and that’s still true. It just made me feel things, mostly happy despite the heavier topics covered.
Book Review: Loveless by Alice Oseman
Synopsis: It was all sinking in. I’d never had a crush on anyone. No boys, no girls, not a single person I had ever met. What did that mean?
Georgia has never been in love, never kissed anyone, never even had a crush – but as a fanfic-obsessed romantic she’s sure she’ll find her person one day.
As she starts university with her best friends, Pip and Jason, in a whole new town far from home, Georgia’s ready to find romance, and with her outgoing roommate on her side and a place in the Shakespeare Society, her ‘teenage dream’ is in sight.
But when her romance plan wreaks havoc amongst her friends, Georgia ends up in her own comedy of errors, and she starts to question why love seems so easy for other people but not for her. With new terms thrown at her – asexual, aromantic – Georgia is more uncertain about her feelings than ever.
Is she destined to remain loveless? Or has she been looking for the wrong thing all along?
Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone

I love a Cara Bastone audiobook, which is probably very apparent by now. I think you can read this in a written format, but you must try the audiobook even if you’re not a fan of them. The fact that this book, and the others in this series of standalones, have a full cast and are acted out really makes a difference.
There’s something so charming and intimate about sitting in on a phone call for over five hours. The characters have great personalities and the chemistry between the love interests is off the charts.
Audiobook Review: Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone
Synopsis: It’s officially booty o’clock, I’m alone again in my kitchen choking down a slice of terrible chocolate cake…and I’m pretty sure I just got drunk texted by the man I have a ginormous crush on.
I’ve been daydreaming about Eliot Hoffman’s dimples for two months, and even though I’m sure this was a mistake on his end, it doesn’t mean it’s not an opportunity on mine. It’s the middle of the night, and I just wanna talk to him. So I text him back.
And then somehow we keep talking…ALL NIGHT. We’re both insomniacs, so talking all night soon turns into talking EVERY night.
And talking about nothing soon turns into talking about something.
And here we go from in-depth analysis of reality TV to my relationship with my family to his amazing artwork. There’s no topic we don’t cover…
Except for who I really am. It’s the only question of his I won’t answer.
As my crush turns into an avalanche of Eliot, I think of him all the time now. But if he knew who I was, the entire house of cards we’ve built this relationship on would come toppling down. I want him to be mine, but we might never be more than just a sweet dream….
