I wanted to start this ‘to be read’ post by saying how much better my March has been and I’m not feeling burnt out by bad books, but that’s sadly not the case. I’ve been taking way longer to get through books recently and most of them haven’t been great. So, I’m planning just a few shorter reads for April.
Rival Darling by Alexandra Moody

I’m currently reading an Alexandra Moody book and they’re such lovely light reads. Apparently, I’m into hockey sports romances at the moment because I’ve bought a few of them recently. Which is weird because I’ve only ever read one and I didn’t even like it very much.
Anyway, the main reason why I want to read this is because it has fake dating and I need some more books for those posts.
Synopsis: She’s got one rule: never date a jock. He’ll do whatever it takes to break it.
When seventeen-year-old Violet is left heartbroken by the captain of her school’s ice hockey team, she vows to never date a jock again. But, in an attempt to prove she’s moved on, she turns to the most unlikely person—her ex’s biggest rival, the notorious captain of the Ransom Devils.
Reed Darling is gorgeous, mysterious and intimidating, both on and off the ice. Wild rumors constantly circulate about him, and the only thing people love to talk about more than his hockey skills are his exploits as a ruthless heartbreaker and bad boy. Who better to serve as Violet’s fake boyfriend until her ex gets the message, right?
But despite the intense rivalry between their two schools and Reed’s infamous reputation, Violet soon starts to wonder if there’s more to him than the gossip suggests. And while she tries her best to control their ‘relationship’ with a list of strict guidelines, Reed has other ideas. He’s set his sights on winning her over and is determined to show Violet he’s not the guy everyone thinks he is.
She should have known better than to make a deal with a devil because this one is going to break all her rules.
Formidable Magic by Iris Beaglehole

I’ve decided to push through the rest of this series in the hope that it’s going to get better again. I’m probably most excited for this one as it’s about Samhain and is finally the season I assumed this entire series was set in, autumn.
Synopsis: As the leaves fall and the fog thickens, the town of Myrtlewood prepares for the annual Samhain festival. But this year, something is different. The chill in the air is not just from the frost, but from a deeper magic, an ancient magic that has lain dormant for years.
Rosemary Thorn and her daughter Athena both sense that something is amiss. They soon find themselves caught up in a thrilling mystery as strange occurrences happen around town. They must navigate through the mystical and mysterious world of magic and uncover the truth behind the spooky happenings before it’s too late.
As All Hallows draws near, the spirits in the land begin to stir in restless frustration and the anticipation in the air thickens, promising to be a Samhain that the people of Myrtlewood will never forget!
Giant Days, Vol. 3 by John Allison & Max Sarin

It’s been a while since I picked up this series and I’m ready for more UK university chaos – I can confirm it is pretty much exactly how it’s depicted in these graphic novels.
This is the last instalment included in Kindle Unlimited so I’m not sure when I’ll continue the series after this. I need to decide if I like it enough to actually buy them.
Synopsis: Best friends Susan, Esther, and Daisy are rounding out their first semester at university. The girls, along with their male hall-mates Ed and McGraw, find that college is more than academics and bad microwavable meals. Add some pub-hopping, hookups, breakups, and political scandal and this might just be the most eventful first semester ever.
