I’m looking forward to a fresh start in February. I know people often think that about January, but my January has been a write-off. Extremely long reads and scrambling to catch up on reviews has left me feeling not my best.
I’ll definitely be picking up some audiobooks during February but I’m currently taking advantage of the audiobook versions of Kindle Unlimited books, so I don’t know what I’ll listen to next. I’ve just started the Improbable Meet-Cute series of novellas, so will definitely finish off those and potential start the second series that’s just released.
Game Changer by Rachel Reid

I’m reading this series a little out of order but I think that’s fine. I’ve already read Heated Rivalry and watched the show so I know a little about what’s going to happen in this book. I liked the Scott and Kip episode so I’m excited to find out more about them. It’s a shame they condensed their story down to just one episode because they were worried it wouldn’t get a second season, and also because it’s important for Shane and Ilya’s story. But hey, flashbacks exist for a reason.
This is my first planned book to read in February (if I stay to my schedule) and I have a feeling it will be a good one to kick off the month with. January has been a little rough so I’m in need of a good pick me up.
Synopsis: New York Admirals captain Scott Hunter takes his pre-game rituals very seriously. In this case, it’s not just a lucky smoothie he’s craving—it’s the man who made it.
Pro hockey star Scott Hunter knows a good thing when he sees it. So, when a smoothie made by juice bar barista Kip Grady precedes Scott breaking his on-ice slump, he’s desperate to recreate the magic…and to get to know the sexy, funny guy behind the counter.
Kip knew there was more to Scott’s frequent visits than blended fruit, but he never let himself imagine being invited back to Scott’s penthouse. Or kissed with reckless abandon, nevermind touched everywhere all at once. When it happens it’s red-hot, incredible and frequent, but also only on Scott’s terms and always behind his closed apartment doors.
Scott needs Kip in his life, but with playoff season approaching, the spotlight on him is suddenly brighter than ever. He can’t afford to do anything that might derail his career…like introducing the world to his boyfriend. Kip is ready to go all-in with Scott—but how much longer will he have to remain a secret?
The Deal by Elle Kennedy

My plan is to read the first book before the show comes out. I’m assuming it’s releasing in the UK, but I haven’t seen a lot about it. Everything I know about this show has come from the Canadian Prime Video Instagram. Please tell me it’s coming to UK Prime Video. We all know how much I love a hockey romance these days (I’ve planned to read two back to back).
After reading some pretty intense fantasies this month, I’m in need of contemporary romances. I’ve heard mixed reviews of this series. It seems you either love it or hate it, so I’m intrigued to see where I fall on that spectrum. Hoping for the former, obviously.
Synopsis: She’s about to make a deal with the college bad boy… Hannah Wells has finally found someone who turns her on. But while she might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone and make him take notice…even if it means tutoring the annoying, childish, cocky captain of the hockey team in exchange for a pretend date. …and it’s going to be oh so good!
All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey after graduation, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything he’s worked so hard for. If helping a sarcastic brunette make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it. Now he just has to convince Hannah that the man she wants looks a lot like him.
Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Caleb Widogast by Jody Houser & Selina Espiritu

A new month means the next instalment of The Mighty Nein Origins. I haven’t been reading them in release order but that really doesn’t matter for this series. I’ve also tried to spread them out as I could have easily read them all in one sitting, but considering how expensive graphic novels are, I like to take my time with them.
Caleb’s back story is extremely fresh in my mind, especially as they went into so much detail with it in season one of the animated show. I had a feeling they’d push him to be the main focal point as he has the most ties to what’s going on.
Synopsis: In Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins: Caleb Widogast, Bren Aldric Ermendrud is chosen to attend the exclusive Soltryce Academy, preparing for an important future in service to the Empire. But nobody — least of all Bren himself — can foresee the cruelty he will endure, and the ways in which it will break and remake him. Witness the events that transform Bren into the Mighty Nein’s Caleb Widogast, and how they inform the path he’ll take in the future.
