Daredevil: Born Again season two – March 4th
I really enjoyed season one of this, Daredevil is one of the only Marvel things (as well as Spider-Man) that I will watch these days. I gave up on Marvel a while ago but Matt Murdock and Peter Parker will always have my heart. Plus, Jessica Jones is confirmed to be in this season and I LOVE her. That show was also great.
There’s not long to wait for this show now, and I was genuinely planning on cancelling my Disney+ series but they’ve got me for a little while longer.
Synopsis: Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer with heightened abilities is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.
Young Sherlock – March 4th
Ignoring the absolutely awful poster they used to promote this series, it actually looks pretty fun. I’m intrigued to see if Hero Tiffin-Fiennes is actually a mediocre actor or if the scripts of the After films were really that bad. I’d assume yes. They’re not even guilty pleasure watches for me, I’ve seen each one only once and that’s enough for me. Sometimes I feel like when there’s only one British character and the rest are American (or vice versa) they sound awful and look like terrible actors. Does this make sense to anyone else?
This is a show I could probably get my partner to watch with me, so that would be fun. We struggle to find shows we both like.
Synopsis: From Guy Ritchie, witness the legendary origin story of Sherlock Holmes in this irreverent, action-laden mystery that follows the iconic detective’s early adventures. Sherlock Holmes is a disgraced young man – raw and unfiltered- when he finds himself wrapped up in a murder case that threatens his liberty. His first ever case unravels a globe-trotting conspiracy, culminating in an explosive showdown that changes his life forever. Unfolding in 1870s Oxford and adventuring abroad, the series will expose the early antics of the anarchic adolescent who is yet to evolve into Baker Street’s most renowned resident.
Off Campus – May 6th
I’m currently reading book one, and honestly, at 20%(ish) of the way through, I’m not understanding the hype. I’m hoping it will get better once I’m a little further in. They’ve only just agreed to the deal so I assume it will pick up soon. The pace feels really slow for a contemporary romance, might be the writing style though.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to the show – even if I don’t end up liking the book (which I really hope I do as I own a few in the series). I had no idea hockey romance would be something I was interested in, but I’ve read quite a few of them now and I’m hooked. If I like this anywhere near as much at the Heated Rivalry show I’ll be happy.
Synopsis: A college-set romantic drama chronicling the unexpected love story between a music student and the university’s star hockey player, exploring themes of love and the complexities of adulthood through deep friendships and enduring bonds.
Mortal Kombat II – May 15th
Is it bad that I’m actually kinda excited for this film? I really liked the first one and Mortal Kombat was a fairly large part of my childhood (absolutely no one should have let me play it as a kid, but hey I had a great time). I can’t wait to see Kitana, she’s one of my favourite characters and the fact that Adeline Rudolph is playing her is even better.
I don’t think I’ll be going to the cinema to watch this, purely because it’s so expensive, but I’ll check it out as soon as it’s available on a streaming service I own.
Synopsis: The fan favourite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage himself — are pitted against one another in the ultimate battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.
