What I Watched: May 2023

As there were so many bank holidays in May, I thought I’d be watching an obscene amount of TV. This, however, was not the case. I’ve actually spent a good amount of the month gaming, actually playing them, not watching YouTube videos.

Films

Confessions of a Shopaholic

I randomly wanted to watch this film last week and when my boyfriend said I could choose a film, it was my first choice. It’s probably a bit embarrassing to say, but I love this film, so much so, that I’ve reviewed it for my re-watch series (coming soon).

Synopsis: Like many New York City gals, Rebecca Bloomwood loves to shop. The trouble is, she shops so much that she is drowning in debt. Rebecca would love to work at the city’s top fashion magazine but, so far, has not been able to get her foot in the door. Then she lands a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine owned by the same company. Her column becomes an overnight success, but her secret threatens to ruin her love life and career.

The People We Hate At the Wedding

This was absolutely awful. The only good thing about it was Kristen Bell, who I think is brilliantly hilarious. Otherwise the plot was all over the place and a lot of the jokes weren’t even funny. I thought it was going to be set at the actual wedding, but no.

Synopsis: Family tensions ramp up among siblings in the week leading up to their half-sister’s wedding in the country.

TV shows

XO, Kitty

This was my most anticipated release of the month so of course I put it off until way after it came out. I did, however, watch the entire thing in one sitting. This wasn’t intentional, but I had a good time doing it. I absolutely loved every episode and I really hope it gets a season two. I’m also already wanting to watch it again, which doesn’t happen often.

Synopsis: A new love story unfolds when teen matchmaker Kitty reunites with her long-distance boyfriend at the same boarding school attended by her late mother.

YouTube

Tears of the Kingdom – Jacksepticeye

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw Sean upload a Zelda video, but I should have known it was too good to be true. He’s uploaded two parts and hasn’t done more since. I don’t think he’s said he isn’t continuing but it’s been two weeks I’m not going to get my hopes up.

Jedi Survivor – Cynthetic

I haven’t actually watched this entire playthrough yet, as I spent two days last month watching my boyfriend play the entire game, but I’ve watched a few episodes and it’s so good. This game is incredible and I really love Cyn, she’s fast becoming one of my favourites.
