What I Watched: November 2023

In a surprising turn of events, I’ve watched mostly films this month. I think when it starts getting darker in the evening I prefer to watch films, I don’t know why.

Films

The Other Zoey

I didn’t expect to enjoy this film as much as I did, but it’s actually become a comfort film for me already. As soon as I finished it, I thought “I could watch this again tomorrow”. I’m not sure why I loved it so much, but it’s great.

Also, American Archie Renaux was very strange and it took me so long to get used to his accent.

Synopsis: Zoey is a brilliant college student who’s determined to challenge the conventional ideas of love and dating. Her life soon gets turned upside down when an amnesiac mistakenly believes she’s his girlfriend, who also happens to share the name Zoey.

Chemical Hearts

I’ve wanted to watch this for ages and I finally did it and my god did it rip my heart out. It’s definitely the type of film that you watch once and that’s enough.

It was a bit confusing at first, but my god is Lili Reinhart a great actor. I did like it, but I don’t feel a need to ever watch it again.

Synopsis: 17-year-old Henry Page is the editor of his high school newspaper and hopes to become a successful writer one day; his secret: he has never been in love, yet he dreams of the great and romantic love story that fulfils and inspires him.

After Everything

I don’t know why I’m so invested in these films, they are terrible. Not the actor’s fault though, they’re all actually decent actors. I think this is more down to bad writing.

This was probably the worst film in the series (mostly because Josephine Langford is hardly in it) but it did show a decent amount of character development for Hardin. I also liked that they brought the proper ending from the books (I think, I only read the fanfic when I was like 14).

Synopsis: After breaking up with his true love, best-selling author Hardin Scott travels to Portugal in an attempt to make amends for his past behaviour.

Red, White & Royal Blue

I’ve already done a re-watch of this and I won’t lie, I want to watch it again. I love it so much, it made me cry again. I’m so happy it’s such a good film. It makes me so happy.

Synopsis: Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, and young Prince Henry fall in love. However, considering their high-profile public lives, they must keep their relationship a secret at all costs.

TV shows

Ginny & Georgia

I’d seen so many clips of this show on Reels that I’ve finally decided to watch it. At the point of writing this post, I’m halfway through season two. Yep, I got a little obsessed and have been bingeing it. I know it’s not the best show and it has its cringeworthy moments, but I’m enjoying it.

Synopsis: Angsty, awkward 15-year-old Ginny Miller often feels more mature than her 30-year-old mother, the irresistible, dynamic Georgia Miller. After years on the run, Georgia desperately wants to put down roots in picturesque New England and give her family something they’ve never had: a normal life.
